Many industries require the use of touch screen computers to complete daily tasks, and often, these touch screens need to withstand harsh and rugged working environments. Acnodes has a variety of industrial resistive-type touch screens available for the industrial market, including hospitals, factories, restaurants and more.
A resistive touch screen is defined as a touch-sensitive computer display made of flexible sheets coated with a resistive material and separated by air or microdots. The AccuTouch five-wire touch screen used by Acnodes is composed of a thick polyester coversheet that is tightly suspended over the top of a glass substrate and separated by insulating dots.
When the resistive-type touch screen is touched, the hard coating on the conductive cover sheet is pushed against another layer of coating on the glass, triggering electrical contact. When the screen is touched, a microprocessor detects the rise in the coversheet voltage and begins converting the voltage into an analog representation of the position touched. The entire process happens in mere milliseconds.
The AccuTouch five-wire touch screen is the top choice of the industrial market thanks to its durability and high resolution images. The AccuTouch uses the bottom glass substrate for both X- and Y-axis measurements, with the flexible coated coversheet acting only as a voltage-measuring probe. This ensures that the screen will continue functioning even with non-uniformity in the conductive coating, leading to more accurate, durable and reliable results.
Resistive-type touch screens are the only models available that provide dust resistance, a necessity in the industrial market. Acnodes’ touch screens operate in temperatures from -10 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius, and in 90% relative humidity at a max of 35 degrees Celsius. The screens are resistance to a variety of industrial chemicals and food service chemicals, as well as running water.
The accuracy and durability-related advantages of the AccuTouch resistive touch screen overshadow its competitors, such as Infrared touch screens, R.A.W. touch screens, and capacitive touch screens. Resistive-type touch screens are also more affordable than the alternatives.
