Rackmount console drawers are cost-effective and space-saving 1U/2U rack units that are available in single port, 8 port, 16 port, or 32 port KVM switches. A KVM switch is a hardware device that allows a user to control multiple computers from a single keyboard, video monitor, and mouse. Because these KVMs can offer different methods of connecting to the computers, its versatility allows it to connect to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse (and audio if provided for) to the console port on the KVM device and the computers to the other ports.
The low profile 1U rackmount drawer saves on rack space and integrates the LCD monitor, keyboard, and pointing device into a complete unit. Unique industrial computers that are shorter in depth can fit easier into more portable racks, which have the advantage of added protection for hard drives. This makes “short depth” a key feature when buying a rack mount drawer.
The KVM switch provides the multiple ports (up to 32 Port connections) and can be daisy-chained to control up to 112 servers in just a 1U compacted rack housing. The new KVM over IP technology lets users access or monitor the servers remotely through the web-based browser without additional software loaded. It supports Microsoft and Linux operating systems as well as iMAC, Power PC, and Sun Microsystems. The KVM switch type includes a Cat6, Cat6 with matrix, and Matrix IP for customer industrial KVM switch applications.
These 1U keyboard drawers come with a built-in keyboard and pointing device. The pointing device, which is dependent on each model, can be a standard optical mouse, a trackball, or a touch-pad with PS/2 or USB type connections. A pointing device is an input interface (specifically a human interface device) that allows a user to input spatial (i.e., continuous and multiple dimensional) data to a computer. It allows the user to control and provide data to the computer using physical gestures — point, click, and drag — for example, by moving a hand-held mouse across the surface of the physical desktop and activating switches on the mouse. The drawer comes with slide rails that can be easily pulled out from the rack and a front key lock for system security. The advanced modules are integrated 8/16/32 port KVM switches into the 1U rack keyboard drawer.
These Keyboard Drawers with KVM switch include a keyboard with touchpad and full feature I/O interface. In other words, they provide a state of the art rackmount in a keyboard drawer.
